India Paid $1.1billion Or Say 6,350 Crore In Bribes In 2017 And It Has Just Started. Karnataka Tops The List While Himachal Pradesh Least Corrupt State

New Delhi: There has been a "definite decline" in petty corruption in the country between 2013 and 2017, a new survey by the Centre for Media Studies (CMS) has reported. "There has been a definite decline in both perception and experience of citizens about corruption in public services between 2005 and 2017," said the 'CMS India Corruption Study 2017'.

It added that 43% of the households covered under the study perceived increase in corruption level in 2017 compared to 43% in 2005. The study, released by NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy on Thursday, covered around 3,000 households from over 200 rural and urban clusters of 20 states.

Of these 20 states, people in Karnataka (77%) faced corruption the most in accessing public services. "This is followed by Andhra Pradesh (74%), Tamil Nadu (68%), Maharashtra (57%), Jammu and Kashmir (44%) and Punjab (42%)," the report said. The report said around one-third of the households experienced corruption in public services at least once during the last one year in comparison to about 53% of households that admitted to paying bribes during a similar study in 2005. The survey covered 3,000 odd persons, both in urban and rural areas.

It also claimed that more than half of the respondents felt that the level of corruption had decreased in public services during the demonetisation phase of November and December 2016. The report estimated that the total bribe paid by households across 20 states and 10 public services was Rs 6,350 crore in 2017 as against Rs 20,500 crore in 2005. However, the study indicated how a lot still remained to be done to reduce corruption in public services.

“Indian Hockey Will Not Participate In Any Event In Which Pakistan Is Participating”-Hockey Indian Officials!

Karachi, Apr 20 (PTI) The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has called on the sport's apex body to take note of India's refusal to play them at the international level, saying it will "damage" world hockey.

India's calls for an unconditional apology from PHF over the 2014 Champions Trophy incident are unjustified.

The PHF was taken aback recently when it learnt that India was not sending its junior team for a tournament in Malaysia in October because Pakistan was among the participating nations.

Hockey India officials made it clear that until Pakistan apologise publicly and unconditionally for the Champions Trophy incident, they would not participate in any event in which Pakistan is playing.

The PHF also received a setback recently when they were kicked out of the Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia.

India is also among the nations playing in the Azlan Shah event.Last December Pakistan's junior team was not a part of the World Cup in India.

"I just hope that the Indian hockey officials see sense and stop this boycott because it will not help international hockey," a top PHF official said.

"Pakistan is no longer a power house in world hockey and has dropped in rankings, which is why everyone is treating it this way. But they forget the influential role played by Pakistan in making field hockey a popular sport in the world”, he said.

Former captain and Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui said the “Asian hockey federation needed to play a role in ending the stand-off between Pakistan and India”.

Shahnaz Sheikh, who was the coach of the Pakistan team when the incident took place in the Champions Trophy in December, 2014, insisted that Pakistan had already apologised for their players' behaviour.

We apologised and our players were penalised so what else do they want us to do, Sheikh, a former Olympian, said.

Traveling the Visakhapatnam-Araku Valley route by train is one of the most scenic train journeys in India.

From Ending Reservations In Medical Colleges To No School Holidays On Birth And Death Anniversary Of Social Leaders And Mass Wedding Of Muslim Girls, Meet The New CM Of UP – Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Schools will no longer be closed on the occasion of birth and death anniversaries of great men and social leaders in Uttar Pradesh. Special programmes will be held to educate the school children about the greatness of the leaders, instead.

Announcing this at a programme to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Baba Sahab Bhim Rao Ambedkar here on Friday, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said, "it is not a great idea to close the schools on the occasion of birth or death anniversaries of great people. In fact, many times, children don't even know why the school has been closed. This defeats the purpose of commemorating a holiday on the occasion."

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh will help with mass weddings for poor Muslim girls in the state by providing venues free in 49 district headquarters, where community halls will be built. These community halls or 'Sadbhavna Mandaps' will be built with central funds under a scheme recently announced in Lucknow by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Uttar Pradesh's Minister of State for Minorities Welfare Mohsin Raza told NDTV. The land for these will be provided by the state government.

This is not yet finished but the Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh has also reportedly made an announcement to end caste-based reservations in private medical colleges and dental colleges in the state. The CM has passed an order to do away with the quota for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Class. The UP Government is also planning to revamp the education system in the state. Instead of class 6, the government schools in UP will now introduce English subject from nursery class.

It’s Time To Shave Your Beards Off Because Summer Has Arrived, Know Why??

The hot weather has arrived and it’s more intense than earlier. Keeping your beards to make you look cool will actually create more heat. So this is the time you should say bye to your manly beards. Know these 5 reasons why you should undergo a look transformation for this summer.

1. Weather Is Not On Your Side At The Moment.
Summer is the season that most men shave off -or at least trim, their beards and there’s a good reason behind it. Wearing a beard under the hot sun isn’t the most comfortable thing. You face feels as if it’s covered with blanket and you also sweat like never before. Brave beardsmen, however, keep their beards during summer no matter what. But are you that strong?

2. Grooming Your Beard Will Be A Task
Taking care of your facial hair isn't an easy task. It requires the use of a lot of good products, and regular trims to give your beard that spectacular look. If you have it in you to carry through the summers with your beard, make sure you get yourself the Syska trimmer to keep your beard clean and well-groomed.

3. It Is No More A Trend
There is nothing new or exciting about growing a beard anymore. Everyone has it and flaunts it to no end. From your favourite celebs to the guy-next-door, everyone's hopped on the beard bandwagon. So, guys, it's time you got off it before all of you start looking the same.

4. Going Clean Shaven Is The New In-Thing Going
Clean-shaven is the new trend this summer. After the beard overdo last year, most of the celebs are turning to a much cleaner look unless their next role demands so! You need to stay updated with the latest trend.

5. Your Face Will Get Itchy
Beards and summer are really a terrible combination. This is the time to take care of your skin. Beware of those heat boils that may make your face a bit itchy. Are you convinced yet? Well, we hope so, because a long summer awaits us all! There's nothing like a good shave to make you feel lighter, cooler and much more relaxed during the summers and rest assured, men always look good clean-shaven. What's more, they look younger too! While you finally go out to buy a razor to get rid of that long overdue beard, make sure you buy the best one to avoid razor cuts..
